Hodíškov combines distinctive cultural monuments with ponds, cycle paths and a landscape that can be explored via field and forest tracks.

Cultural monuments and a living tradition

One of the village’s prominent sights is the cultural monument “Vysoký kamenný kříž”, a tall stone cross. Its base is dated to 1857. Another important landmark is the chapel “Kaple svatých Cyrila a Metoděje”. It was built between 1874 and 1877 and consecrated on 24 June 1874. It was designed by Aleš Linsbauer, an architect born in Hodíškov.

The chapel is also associated with a tradition that takes place every year: on 5 July, a pilgrimage festival is held in Hodíškov for the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius. On this day, a festive Mass is regularly celebrated in the local chapel. Those interested in regional customs and the connection between architectural history and religious life will find a specific date in the annual calendar that goes beyond simply viewing a building.

Ponds, plants and paths through the landscape

Hodíškovský rybník is a high-quality mesotrophic pond with regularly occurring, well-developed vegetation. Puchýřka útlá (Coleanthus subtilis) occurs at Hodíškovský rybník; there is also a promising population of this species, as well as other endangered plant species. Hodíškovský rybník bears the Natura 2000 code CZ0612135.

Several different cycle routes have been documented for active days. Long-distance cycle route No. 103 from Jeseník to Znojmo passes through the area of Hodiškov. The Santiniho cyklotrasa No. 5061 is also described: it is 67 km long, starts in Vojnův Městec and leads to Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. These two details show that cyclists can choose either a long connection between two towns or a designated 67-kilometre route.

In summer, swimming in the local ponds Kroužek and Luže has long been considered the most popular leisure activity. The landscape around Hodiškov can also be accessed via unmarked field and forest tracks. This creates a clear distinction for planning the day between swimming in the ponds, cycling on a marked route and exploring the surroundings on unmarked paths.

Getting there and choosing your stay
