Březejc combines historical traces with paths through forest and cultural landscapes. The village is located on the road between Velké Meziříčí and Ořechov, providing a clearly identifiable geographical reference. At the same time, several marked routes run through the cadastral or planning area.

Historical traces in the village and its surroundings

The history of Březejc dates back at least to 1371. At that time, the village was first mentioned under the name Brzesye. The village is home to the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. Next to the chapel, a memorial cross commemorates the soldiers from Březejc who fell in the First World War. Thus, two different forms of remembrance are directly associated with the village: the religious chapel and the commemoration of local war dead.

Another memorial site is located outside the edge of the village. The Pomník Ladislav Klimek monument stands in a forest 600 metres west of the edge of Březejc. It commemorates the Czechoslovak pilot por. Ladislav Klimek, who died there on 16 May 1957 when a MiG-15 fighter aircraft crashed. For orientation, the exact location of the monument is just as important as its historical significance: it is not a point in the village centre, but a site in the forest west of Březejc.

Forest, water and marked routes

Forests cover 34.5% of the area of the Březejc cadastral territory. A blue-marked hiking trail runs along the southern edge of this cadastral territory. The Březejcký les regional biocentre is also located in the southeastern edge area of the planning area. The biocentre also includes the small Holánek pond and a wet cultural landscape meadow. These different landscape elements make the southeastern area a distinct destination within the village surroundings, without Březejc having to be viewed solely through the lens of its history.

Several specific connections are also documented for cycling trips. Cycling route 5242 runs through Březejc along the road towards Ořechov. In addition, the marked cycling route 5240 between Tasov and Bohdalec extends into the Březejc planning area.

Another option for orientation on foot is via Jabloňov. There, Březejc can connect to the marked long-distance hiking trail Třebíč–Budišov–Tasov–Jabloňov–Ořechov–Velká Bíteš–Bílý potok Valley–Veverská Bítýška via an existing paved farm road between Březejc and Jabloňov. The described connection complements the blue-marked hiking trail at the southern edge of the cadastral territory with a longer regional route.

Regional tradition and orientation

Březejc also takes part in the St. Giles pilgrimage in Ruda. The municipalities of the parish make harvest wreaths and harvest flowers and carry them in a traditional-costume procession before Mass. This tradition complements the local architectural and memorial sites with a communal occasion outside Březejc.

Depending on your desired focus, you can highlight the village’s history, cycling route 5242, the blue-marked hiking trail, the Březejcký les biocentre or the connection via Jabloňov.
