Ceske Chalupy – Hiking in the Blanský les
Local character between villages and hamlets
České Chaloupy is a settlement with scattered buildings, characteristic of the western and southern Blanský les. The Blanský les is marked by gently undulating horizons, preserved nature, and the historic structures of villages and scattered hamlets. This combination of open landscape and small settlement structures shapes the appearance of České Chaloupy.
Skalka is a mountain in the immediate vicinity of České Chaloupy. Vrata, Kleť, and Chlum are mountains in the surrounding area of České Chaloupy. Chlumany, an ancient site, is also nearby. Those who wish to combine landscape and history will therefore find different destinations around the settlement: the mountains give the surroundings a varied profile, while the ancient site provides a cultural accent.
Hiking with a ridge tour and circular trail
The “Hřebenem Blanského lesa” route is a moderately difficult ridge tour and offers numerous views of the surrounding landscape. It combines the sporting character of a ridge hike with recurring landscape views. For your planning, it is therefore an independent option if you are looking for a more demanding tour with viewpoints.
The “Křemežskou kotlinou” circular trail leads through České Chalupy and via Sedm Chalup and České Chalupy to Nová Ves. The “Křemežskou kotlinou” hike can be shortened and can partly follow the ridge. This allows the same route to be arranged in different ways: a shorter version is provided, as is a section connected with the ridge. This means you can better coordinate the desired length and character of your hiking day.
Another connection is the CZ12.3 Holašovice–Lhenice section of the Zlatá stezka, which passes České Chalupy. It supplements the local hiking options with a longer route between Holašovice and Lhenice. The selection therefore ranges from a moderately difficult ridge tour and an adaptable circular trail to a section of the Zlatá stezka.
Cycle routes and protected landscape area
There are numerous marked cycle routes in the vicinity of České Chalupy. The development plan also provides for a regional cycle route from České Budějovice via Holašovice, České Chalupy, Kuklov, Smědeč, Chroboly, Jelemek, Prachatice, Vlachovo Březí, Malenice, Volyně, and Sušice, numbered 121. The distinction is important for orientation when cycling: the marked cycle routes already exist, while route 121 is provided for in the development plan.
Pension Na pohodu is located in the cadastral area of České Chaloupy within the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area and is open all year round. The specific accommodation location combines its connection with the settlement and the protected landscape area; year-round opening also allows for different travel periods.
