Angern (Bujanov) can be explored through two very different themes: the horse-drawn railway and the Koláčové slavnosti, whose name refers to kolaches. Nearby are also the ruins of Louzek Castle and a route connecting several places. This brings together transport history, an annual festival and a specific sequence of places.

Horse-drawn railway: station and museum

A transfer station for the horse-drawn railway was built in Bujanov in 1826; it remained in operation until 1870. Its construction and the end of its operation therefore mark a clearly defined chapter in the town’s history.

The Horse-Drawn Railway Museum is housed in a former railway keeper’s cottage next to Bujanov station; the station is 30 metres from the museum. The exhibition provides information about the history, construction and period of use of the horse-drawn railway. On display are a model of the local transfer station and an approximately 25-metre-long reconstruction of the track superstructure. The exhibits are presented at different scales: the model depicts the transfer station, while the longer reconstruction shows the track superstructure. The former horse-drawn railway station building is also associated with Bujanov.

Koláčové slavnosti in July

The Koláčové slavnosti have been held in Bujanov every year since 1997. The event usually takes place in mid-July; specific dates may vary. Kolaches were an important part of the refreshments, and the festival’s name also refers to them. This gives your trip a seasonal reference point without implying a fixed date for every year. If your trip depends on the festival, check the specific dates for the year in question.

Louzek Castle and a route through several places

The ruins of Louzek Castle are near Bujanov. Beneš of Michalovice founded the castle in the late 13th or early 14th century. This adds a medieval connection alongside the much more recent history of the horse-drawn railway.
