Město Albrechtice – Views, Culture and Family Experiences

Město Albrechtice combines impressive views, Baroque culture and a variety of experiences for families. Here you can visit an observation tower with a distinctive design, choose a moderately difficult circular trail to several sights, discover historical exhibitions or take short trails with interactive stations. Cyclists, horse riders and fans of unusual collections will also find their own reasons to stay.

Views, Circular Trail and Active Days

Hraniční vrch Observation Tower is a twin-tower observation tower and is freely accessible year-round. The viewing platform is 25 metres high and can be reached via 149 steps. This offers a clearly defined viewing experience in which the climb itself becomes part of the visit.

Those who would like to combine several destinations can take the Městský turistický okruh, a more extensive route. The 28-kilometre, moderately difficult circular trail leads to Poutní hora, the Burkvíz ruins, Linhartovy Chateau, Hraniční vrch Observation Tower and Vrch Dubí. The trail is also suitable for families with children. For a shorter activity, Bedřicha Smetany Park offers a disc golf course with six baskets and 20 disc golf discs.

The Slezská magistrála cycle route is 140 kilometres long and leads from Jeseník via Město Albrechtice, Krnov, Úvalno and Opava to Kravaře. Another option for active hours is the Jezdecké centrum Město Albrechtice, which offers rides, training sessions for advanced riders and riding opportunities for children and adults. Riding takes place in the riding arena and, in bad weather, in the indoor riding hall.

Baroque Culture and Unusual Collections

One of the notable cultural monuments is the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. It was built in the mid-18th century on the site of a wooden church that had burned down and is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque ecclesiastical architecture in the Osoblažsko region. Inside are ornate Baroque altars, including a high altar with a painting of the Visitation of Mary. The town square also features the Baroque Marian Column of Saint Anne.

Linhartovy Chateau houses a permanent exhibition of rare ceramics by Jan Kutálek. The Minimuzeum kočárků a panenek offers a completely different insight, with more than 150 prams and more than 300 dolls. Please note that the museum is open by telephone appointment and charges voluntary admission.

Family Trails and Outdoor Experiences

The Pohádková stezka Ke Krtečkově studánce is just under two kilometres long and includes 11 stations. Interactive elements and games turn the trail into an exploration tour of its own; it is suitable for families with children and for prams. Eldorádo Hynčice additionally presents a prehistoric scene with dinosaurs, brontosaurs and other huge reptiles, as well as fairy-tale creatures and other figures.

Fishing and cycling are possible at Rybník Celňák, and ice skating is also possible there in winter. This makes it possible to combine cultural sightseeing with various outdoor activities, without every outing having to be the same kind of experience. Tourist information, public toilets and local publications are available at Infokavárna & infocentrum in Město Albrechtice.
