Uhřínovice combines a distinctive local history with notable architectural and cultural heritage sites. A Late Gothic fortress stands on the Na Tvrzi hill above the settlement; there are also a chapel and a Calvary monument. A cycle route and a hiking trail pass through the village or include it in their routes. This allows you to consider cultural history and active route planning as separate focuses for your stay.

Fortress and Local History

The fortress is the only surviving fortress in the entire district. A two-storey stone building, it measures 12 × 18 metres; traces of the fortress moat are also visible on the hill. It is protected as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 25416/6-2463. The combination of the stone structure and the remains of the moat makes the fortified site easy to picture.

The fortress is dated to the mid-16th century; its builders may have been Mikuláš z Ledské or his son Jan. It was first mentioned in 1593. After 1694, it ceased to serve as a noble residence and was converted into a granary. Uhřínovice itself was first mentioned as early as 1387. This makes it possible to distinguish chronologically between the first mention of the village, the construction and first mention of the fortress, and its later change of use.

Other Cultural Monuments

Religious cultural monuments are also part of Uhřínovice’s character. In the cadastral area of Uhřínovice u Voděrad, the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk and the Calvary monument are each listed as objects of heritage interest. The Calvary monument in Uhřínovice was erected in 1901 at the expense of local residents. The chapel and Calvary monument complement the fortress theme with religious buildings; the recorded funding of the monument also points to the residents’ involvement.

The 17.5 km hiking trail 97 runs from Solnice via Byzhradec, Uhřínovice, Lično, the Černíkovický rybník pond, and Černíkovice, before returning to Solnice. Uhřínovice lies on the described route between Byzhradec and Lično; Solnice is both the starting point and the return destination. Check the current trail conditions before your hike.

The information differs for planning purposes: for the cycle route, the total length and the section through the village are given separately; for the hiking trail, the total distance and the sequence of places along the route back to Solnice are specified. This lets you distinguish the section through Uhřínovice from the full route lengths and use the information to plan your route accordingly.
