Libáň combines impressive cultural monuments with a landscape where historic sites, commemorative trees, mountains and a large body of water open up different travel possibilities. Anyone wishing to combine culture and nature on a trip will find specific points of interest here: from the Baroque Kostel sv. Ducha to monuments on náměstí Svobody and a long-distance hiking trail marked in red.

Cultural Monuments with a Clear History

Kostel sv. Ducha is a Baroque building that Josef Hager had erected from 1755 to 1757 on the site of an earlier wooden chapel. The church has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964. Inside are rare Baroque organs, which were fully renovated in 1998. The furnishings also include a statue of sv. Josef from 1783. It was moved from the square to Kostel sv. Ducha in 1925.

The monument to Mistr Jan Hus stands on náměstí Svobody. It was unveiled on 6 July 1925 and created by the sculptor František Bílek based on a design by prof. Ladislav Šaloun. Another historic landmark is the monument to Karel Havlíček Borovský, erected in Libáň in 1909. It was designed and created by the sculptor Jaroslav Jedlička from Vojice. These works make historical figures and the development of the town visible at several specific locations.

A Commemorative Tree and Mountains in the Surrounding Area

A special connection between nature and local history is the Libáňská borovička. The more than 300-year-old commemorative tree stands at Na Horách above Libáň and is regarded as a symbol of Libáň. The Libáň hill is also located nearby. The Přivýšina mountain and Střelečská hůra mountain are in the vicinity of Libáň. The mountain U Borku (Záhornice u Městce Králové) is also located in this area. In the wider regional surroundings lies the Valdštejn church.

Water-Based Nature Experiences and Trails through Libáň

Pilský rybník lies on the Hasinský potok. The 50-hectare body of water serves as a nesting and gathering site for birds and complements the historic sights with a distinctly nature-focused highlight. A long-distance hiking trail marked in red also runs through Libáň. This makes it possible to combine the town's history with a hike without limiting the trip to a single theme. For planning the day, this creates an on-site change between focused cultural observation, experiencing nature and outdoor exercise.

The “Libáňský hudební máj” music festival is also part of the town's cultural identity. It was founded in 2001 to continue the tradition of the event of the same name. In Libáň, architectural history, monuments, local memory, nature and an established event tradition thus stand side by side.
