Řendějov: Horse Riding and Rural Heritage
Accommodation in Řendějov
Řendějov brings together an equestrian centre, rural architectural history and a section of the Via Czechia Central Route. This offers different reasons to stay: horse-riding activities, exploring the historic village landscape or making the village a stop on a longer tour. The buildings in Řendějov, Starý Samechov and Jiřice are scattered and irregularly arranged; this settlement pattern is associated with the variety of the terrain. The settlement structure describes several places in relation to one another, while the small bell tower chapel marks a specific point in the centre of Řendějov.
Horse Riding and the Via Czechia
Stáj Řendějov is located in Řendějov, not far from Zruč nad Sázavou. It has a 21 × 61-metre sand riding arena with geotextile and show-jumping equipment. The activities are suitable for recreational and sport-oriented riders; one-off training sessions in the arena and riding coaching are available. For planning purposes, it helps to specify what you are looking for in advance: ask about a one-off training session, coaching or both, and confirm current availability and booking arrangements before your visit.
The Via Czechia Central Route runs along the stage from Koutský mlýn via Řendějov to the Babka lookout tower. This makes the village a named intermediate point between the two locations on the route; if you are planning a longer tour, you can use the stated order to plan your stages. The Via Czechia Central Route also includes a note about bus service for Řendějov. The two details answer different questions: the route describes where the village falls on the stage, while for bus travel you should check the current timetable for your travel date.
Farmstead and Local History
One distinctive feature of the village’s history is the rural farmstead at No. 7, listed under number 45309/2-1161 in the state register of immovable cultural monuments. House number 7 identifies the farmstead in the village, while 45309/2-1161 is its reference number in the state monument register; the numbers therefore serve two different purposes. The complex comprises a dwelling with curved gable cheeks, a two-storey masonry granary with an open gallery, a barn and a farm building. The architectural features have different characteristics: gable cheeks describe the sides of the gable, while an open gallery is an open-sided passage along a building.
Řendějov was first mentioned in writing in 1380. The former school building, which now houses the municipal office, was built in 1904. The two dates relate to different aspects of local history: 1380 refers to the first written mention of the village, while 1904 is the construction date of a specific building. A memorial to the victims of the First World War was erected near the former school. There is also a pub; check in advance whether it will be open during your stay.
